AlcoholEdu for College

AlcoholEdu for College is an online alcohol prevention program. The program serves as a cornerstone of a comprehensive prevention strategy. AlcoholEdu for College is one way the University of Hartford is educating incoming students about alcohol.

The AlcoholEdu Standard
AlcoholEdu for College is designed as a population-level prevention program that is required of all incoming first-year residential students. This method creates a learning experience that:

  • Motivates behavior change
  • Resets unrealistic expectations about the effects of alcohol
  • Links choices about drinking to academic and personal success
  • Helps students practice healthier and safer decision-making

All incoming first-year University of Hartford students, who reside on campus, must take this online course. Log in information will be distributed to all first-year students via their University of Hartford email account.

Part 1 of the course takes approximately 3 hours to complete, and we recommend that the course be taken in multiple sittings. Part 1 ends after the Exam and Survey 2. A grade of 75% or higher must be earned for both Parts 1 & 2 to pass and receive credit for the course.

Students will be able to log on beginning July 27, 2010.

The deadline for finishing Part 1 is August 27,2010.

Completion of Part 1 is required prior to check-in during the fall semester’s opening weekend. Students who have not completed Part 1 prior to check-in will be required to complete the exam at a designated on-campus computer lab.

About one month after Part 1 is completed, students will receive an email asking them to complete Part 2.

The deadline to complete Part 2 is October 22, 2010.

Completion on time is imperative to receive housing for Fall semester of 2011.
