First-semester freshmen are eligible to
participate in the Hartford Art School Honors Program if they were (a)
awarded a University of Hartford President’s or Regents’
Scholarship or (b) designated as eligible to participate upon admission
to the University.
Transfer students and all other students
should consult with the Hartford Art School Honors Coordinator to
determine their eligibility.
Hartford Art School Requirements for the Honors Degree
For a student enrolled in the Hartford Art School, the requirements
below must be met to complete the University Honors program and earn
the designation of University Honors on the diploma:
A Hartford Art School Honors Student must have an overall
Grade Point Average of 3.5 and a 3.0 in Honors course work.
A Hartford Art School Honors Student must have at least 18 credits of
Honors work.
The Hartford Art School Honors Coordinator helps each student develop a
plan to earn the required 18 credits of Honors work, including:
Honors sections of General Education (e.g., Honors RPW) and/or AUC
courses
”Contract Honors” courses
Upper-level independent study and research projects (including the
University Scholar Program).
Suggested Timetable
Freshman Year: Take one or two Honors sections
of General Education or AUC courses (3-6 credits).
Sophomore Year: Take one or two Honors sections
of General Education or AUC courses (3-6 credits) or take one Honors
seminar (3 credits) and one Honors section of General Education or AUC
courses (3 credits).
Junior Year: Take two “Contract
Honors” courses in your major (6 credits) or take one
“Contract Honors” course and one Honors seminar (6
credits). In the spring, decide if you want to do a University Scholar
project or an independent study project. Select a topic and find a
faculty member who will direct your project.
Senior Year: Begin and complete the independent
project (3-6 credits).
Total: 18 credits
