Criminal Justice courses are centered on understanding and interpreting the basic research on crime and analysis of crime policy. Within a core curriculum emphasizing crime, its causes and control also offer students opportunities for internships, cooperative education and research. Our faculty is well established in the city and state as experts in their fields and are sought out to conduct research throughout the state.
Applied learning in criminology is essential. We offer several options for students to earn credits in an applied criminal justice setting. The Internship and Cooperative Educations Programs are the most popular aspect of the program. Our recent undergraduate students have been accepted as interns for exceptional opportunities. In the past four years our students have worked in the US Marshals Service, State’s Attorney office, the US Secret Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of NY, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office and in local jails and state prisons, and private agencies in either a three credit internship or a six credit Cooperative Education Project.
