Student Leadership AwardsAwards DescriptionsRobert Hanley AwardThis most prestigious of all awards recognizes one student who has demonstrated a solid commitment to the University. The recipient is selected based on involvement in student organizations and/or University programs, service to the community, having a positive spirit about the University, and serving as a role model for other students. Recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Richard D. Keller AwardThis award recognizes one student with a physical disability that demonstrates initiative and perseverance in his/her involvement in University programs or student organizations. Nominees may also be students who are not physically challenged, but who have contributed significantly to enable complete participation and involvement in campus life by those who have disabilities. Recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. M. Kevin Fahey Gengras Student Union AwardThis award recognizes one student who demonstrates and contributes significant leadership in the development of the overall program and mission of the Gengras Student Union. The award recognizes a student who understands that as the "hearthstone of the campus" the Union contributes significantly, through its operations, programs and services, to the out-of-the-classroom educational experienc4e. Recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Dean of Students Recognition of Service AwardThis award identifies students who demonstrate outstanding qualities in their achievements and membership in student organizations during the academic year. Recipients are selected on: involvement in programs that contribute to the quality of student life and the image of the University; ability to think and act independently on behalf of the organization; ability to inspire and motivate one's fellow students; and demonstration of admirable leadership qualities. Each recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. The Office of Residential Life AwardThis award recognizes students from each of the campus residential areas. Each recipient will be selected in recognition of his/her ability to live as a "good neighbor" -- a responsible member of the University residential community who demonstrates civility and concern for others in his/her immediate living environment. Each recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Student Organization AwardThis award recognizes up to two organizations, which have made the most significant progress since the beginning of the academic year. Selection is based on the organization's demonstration of a strong and active membership, successful programs, and overall contribution to the University. Community Service AwardThis award recognizes organization or groups of students who have contributed most significantly to the community during the academic year. Selection is based on the quality of the project(s) or event(s) completed by the group, and contribution to the organization being served. The group's project(s) may have aided one or more service agencies, charitable organizations, health organizations, campus constituencies, etc. More than one award may be presented. Best Program AwardThis award recognizes student organizations or groups of students who planned and implemented a University-wide program, which contributed in a significant way to the quality of student life, or to the enjoyment, understanding, knowledge or positive image of our University. |
