Identifying Key Tasks

When an assignment states that students should:

"...tell about a memorable high school learning experience then explain what you think is significant about this experience..."

a professor probably expects the students to narrate then analyze the memorable experience. Since an assignment may not name explicitly the writing task(s) required, it is important that students learn to recognize the phrases frequently used to imply certain writing tasks:
