Part 2

Congratulations!  You have solved the mystery and you are a butterfly expert!  Now, The Butterfly Museum of Flying Arts needs your help to design a butterfly exhibit.  Each person will choose ONE job to complete to make the exhibit really great! The jobs are:

Jobs at The Butterfly Museum of Flying Arts

Please choose ONE job from the list below.
Actors
You can either make up a skit of your own about the life cycle of a butterfly OR act out Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Be able to perform it at the exhibit with the other actors in your class.

Artist
Pick your favorite Connecticut butterfly from your Investigator's Notebook and design a hatching butterfly puppet.  Decorate it realistically based on what you found.
If you have more time, work with the other artists to design a sign for the exhibit.   Click on the butterfly to find our how to make the puppet.

Ecologist
Make two terrariums.  One will show the habitat of a caterpillar and one will show the habitat of a butterfly.  Use other classroom resources to find out about the different habitats.  Be able to explain and show the difference at the exhibit.
Click on the butterfly to find out how to make a terrarium.

Entomologist
Design a collage showing the symmetry of butterflies.  You might want to find pictures of other objects that are symmetrical as well as butterflies.  Your teacher will help you with this.  Be prepared to explain symmetry at the exhibit.

Musician
Learn a song about the life cycle of the butterfly and be able to perform the song at the exhibit for your parents and schoolmates.  Click on the butterfly to find and choose a song to perform with the other musicians.  Have your teacher print it out for you.

Writer
Write a story or a poem about the life cycle of a butterfly using at least four of the vocabulary words from your Investigator's Notebook .  You will present your writing at the exhibit.

Once you finish your job, you will work with the rest of your class to put together the exhibit for your parents and schoolmates!  Have fun!
