Eligibility Requirements and Suggested Curriculum

Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants to the Pre-Podiatry articulation between the University of Hartford
and the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) must demonstrate an outstanding academic potential, maturity and, motivation for the pursuit of podiatric studies. Acceptance to the program will normally require a student to:
- Maintain at least a "B" average during their first three years of high school.
- Rank in the upper twenty percent of their high-school class.
- Obtain a combined score of at least 1000 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

To be eligible for admission to the NYCPM D.P.M. program, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Complete ninety (90) credits of course work at the University of Hartford by the end of
the third year at the University of Hartford.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 overall with a
minimum grade of "C" in all required courses.
- Satisfactory performance on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and any ohter examinations required by NYCPM.
- Submit an application for admission to NYCPM at the end
of the second year of pre-professional study at the University of Hartford.
- Obtain a recommendation for admissions to NYCPM from the University of Hartford Premedical Professions Advisory Committee.
- Complete a satisfactory interview with the Admissions Committee at NYCPM and participate in any orientation programs required by NYCPM.

Pre-professional
students must send a letter of intention to the Office of Admission at the
appropriate school upon matriculation at the University of Hartford. Students are
expected to complete at least ninty (90) credits at the University and maintain at least
a 3.25 grade point average (3.40 for optometry) overall, with a minimum grade of
"C" in all required courses. Admission to the professional school is
contingent on the student's successful completion of all prerequisite courses
and all application procedures of the professional school, which may include an
interview with the Admissions Committee of that school.
