Dental colleges require, in the application process, that students do well
on the Dental Admission Test (DAT). The scope of the exam is broad and includes:
I. Natural Sciences, II.Perceptual Ability, III. Reading Comprehension, and IV.
Quantitative Reasoning. Typically, the student should take the DAT at least one year
prior to the planned year of beginning dental school. For most students this will be
in the spring of their junior year. Each area is scored from 0-30 with 15 being average.
Succesful students typically score above average and maintain at least a B+ (3.25)
GPA.
