Dental Medicine - Admissions Testing

Dental colleges require, in the application process, that students do well on the Dental Admission Test (DAT).  The scope of the exam is broad and includes:   I. Natural Sciences, II.Perceptual Ability, III. Reading Comprehension, and IV. Quantitative Reasoning.  Typically, the student should take the DAT at least one year prior to the planned year of beginning dental school.  For most students this will be in the spring of their junior year. Each area is scored from 0-30 with 15 being average.   Succesful students typically score above average and maintain at least a B+ (3.25) GPA.

American Dental Association: Go to the American Dental Association for specific information about the DAT exam program.

Sample DAT Exams: Scholarware is a commercial source of practice DAT tests available on CD-ROM.
