We had our first trip of the year. 16 of us went on a hiking and climbing trip to Rattlesnake Mountain. Pictures of the climbing at Green Wall will be coming later.

Fall 2009
We are still trying to form a club. Here are some pictures of some trips this fall. These include hiking and climbing trips on Pinacle Rock, RattleSnake Mountain, Deer Cliffs, and into King Phillip's Cave on Metacomet Ridge.

A group of 9, including Chester the dog, made a pleasant 5 mile hike. We had a nice, sunny day and got to the Pinnacle overview of Simsbury. Some large-file pictures are here.

Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007

Ryan Hughes, Ryan Serbel and Jay Stewart had basic knot tying and belay practice in Hillyer Hall before heading to Prime Climb in Wallingford. We learned that they have new belaying techniques since Jay was last approved for climbing there, but once we had our painful shoes on, we burned ourselves out on progressively harder climbs--eventually reaching a 5.8 corner climb at our best. There are some pictures here, but they are large files..

We had our first trip and went for a hike at Sleeping Giant State Park. We parked at the Chestnut Parking lot and hiked the White Trail to the tower. The tower was haunted by a monster (see the pictures), but the cub scouts came to the rescue and 'killed' it. It was pretty crowded there, but we snacked, viewed the scenery, and chatted with folks on top, then took the Blue Trail back. We saw lots of cliffs and a deer. Pictures are here, but be warned they may load slowly because I didn't compress them enough.
