Charter Oak Cultural Center presents Full Force Dance Theatre in Window to the World, a
contemporary dance concert with international themes and world music by Zap
Mama, Sheila Chandra, Nawang Khechog,
Michio Mamiya and
more. Also featured will be Katie
Stevinson-Nollet’s recent hit “When the Fat Lady
Sings”, a suite of quirky, yet endearing dances, performed to classic Opera
favorites. Lorelei Li Chang, a six year
veteran with FFDT, sets her newest work Sacred Garden on the company. Performances are at the Charter Oak Cultural Center, 21 Charter oak Ave.,
Hartford on February 1 and 2, 2008 at 7:30pm.

Window to the World will feature Menagerie, a world premier of exotic
beasts created by Artistic Director Katie Stevinson-Nollet performed to the
music of Zap Mama.
Sacred Garden, by Lorelei Li Chang, is
a work inspired by oriental paintings. Performed at Trinity College last
November, the work takes on new forms and premiers its newest section the “The
Crane” with Music by Nawang Khechog. Also Featured are “Water Fall”, “Bonzai’, and “Koi Pond” with
music by Michio Mamiya, Houyuan Wu and Bandolim.
Returning
this season is Stevinson-Nollet’s hit of 2007, When the Fat Lady Sings. This quirky suite will take your breath away
with its beauty and wit. Performed
effortlessly to the timeless music of G. Puccini, G. Verdi, G. Rossini, V.
Bellini, W. A. Mozart, as sung by Luciano
Pavarotti, Kiri Te Kanawa,
Leo Nucci, Renata Scotto
and Ruggero Raimondi.
Stormy Blues, also by
Stevinson-Nollet, is a sultry solo danced by Heather Lombardo to the seductive
sound of Billie Holiday.
And
by special invitation, Hartt Dance Division Dancers
will perform Katie Stevinson-Nollets rhythmically
driven At the Edge of Reason with
music by Sheila Chandra.
Full Force Dance Theatre is known for its eclectic range of
choreography. Stevinson-Nollet’s
style has been critically acclaimed to be boldly athletic, sensitive, and
powerful, focusing her interests in collaboration
and the exploration of the human condition.
FFDT is a non-profit organization in residence at the University of
Hartford, Hartt School.
