Ingredients

1. 1 ½ cups raisins
2. 1 cup cold water
3. ½ cup cold water
4. ¼ cup shortening
5. 1 cup white sugar
6. ½ tsp. cinnamon
7. ½ tsp. nutmeg
8. ½ tsp. allspice
9. ½ tsp. salt
10. 1 ½ tsp. baking soda
11. 2 Tbsp. hot water
12. 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

Directions:

In a heavy sauce pan, bring raisins and 1 cup of water to boil. Reduce heat to low and continue simmering for 10 minutes.
Cream shortening and sugar. Stir in drained, cooked raisins, ½ cup of cold water, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, salt, and baking soda dissolved in 2 Tbsp. hot water.
Beat in Flour.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 9x13x2 baking pan.
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
