The ginger cookies recipe is a very old one that has been in my family for a few centuries.

Ingredients

  1. - 4 cups sifted flour
  2. - ½ sugar
  3. - 1 teaspoon powdered gingered (I always use more)
  4. - ½ teaspoon salt (optional)
  5. - ½ cup butter

Directions:

Cut butter and lard into flour mixture until it looks like cornmeal

- 1 tablespoon hot water
Mix well into flour mixture, add molasses and water
Roll 1/8 inch thinness or roll into balls. Then roll into sugar.
