Overall Course Objectives:
PSB111 is the second course in a two course introductory survey of psychology.
The primary objective of PSB111 is to provide students with an overview of
major areas of investigation in the psychological fields of Lifespan Development,
Personality, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Health
Psychology.
Course Policies:
á Exams will consist of a
mixture of multiple choice, short answer, and short essay questions.
á Key terms lists and other
study materials will be provided on the class web pages.
á The overall grade for the
course will consist of exam 1 (30% of grade), exam 2 (30% of grade), the final
exam (30% of grade) and class participation, quizzes and papers (10% of grade).
á Extra credit may be earned
through high levels of participation in classroom discussion and other
activities such as projects and reports. Improvement in performance across the
semester will also be considered in grading.
á Failure to take a scheduled
exam or quiz will result in a grade of 0 unless you present a legitimate excuse
before the date of the exam.
á Regular class attendance and
participation are necessary for a successful learning experience. Hillyer
College policy states that three missed classes must result in an Attendance Warning
being distributed to one's advisor, student file, and home address. College
policy states that four missed classes should result in a student being dropped
from the class.
á Academic honesty policies
for this course are described in the Manual of Academic Policies and
Procedures, which may be found online at
