Task 1: Read the following pages in the Microsoft
Excel section of the Lab/Office 2000 book:
- Chapter 4 “Graphs and Charts”.
- Pages 138-148.
- Pages 158-161.
- Pages 168-169.
- Pages 178-180.
- Also be sure to read the following Tip Boxes in Chapter 4
“Graphs and Charts”.
- “Embedded Charts”, page 151.
- “Anatomy Of A Chart”, page 155.
- “Format The Data Series”, page 157.
- “Default Selections” and “The F11 Key”, page 164.
- “Moving And Copying A Chart Sheet”, page 165.
- “Object Linking And Embedding”, page 170.
- “Linking Versus Embedding”, page 175.
- “Linking Worksheets”, page 176.
- “To Click Or Double Click”, page 177.
Task 2: Hands-On Exercises
- Copy the Lab File, “Software Sales.xls”, from my
Assignments web page or from the local workstation C: drive (which is
accessible only from the classroom network) to a diskette.
- Do Hands-On Exercise 1, pages 149-158, from the Microsoft
Excel, Chapter 4: Graphs and Charts section of the lab book. You do not
need to print this version of the spreadsheet. It is used as a starting
point for the next exercise.
- Do Hands-On Exercise 2, pages 162-168, from the Microsoft Excel,
Chapter 4: Graphs and Charts section of the lab book. Attach a hardcopy
printout of the workbook, i.e. all worksheets, to this sheet.
- Copy the Lab File, “Software Memo.doc”, from my
Assignments web page or from the local workstation C: drive (which is
accessible only from the classroom network) to a diskette.
- Do Hands-On Exercise 3, pages 170-178, from the Microsoft
Excel, Chapter 4: Graphs and Charts section of the lab book. Attach a
hardcopy printout of the memo to this sheet.
