MET 482, Senior Design Project

Department of Mechanical Engineering

College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture

In MET 482, students work in teams under the supervision of ME professors to solve multidesciplinary problems from local industries. Over the last 3 years, senior MET students have worked with a number of companies. Students gain a spectrum of benefits from this open-ended senior design experience, which requires them to synthesize and apply the knowledge gained through their undergraduate courses, to work within time and budget constraints, and to present their progress and results rough weekly oral and written communications with company sponsors and faculty instructors.

Sponsoring companies also benefit in a variety of ways. Our students bring new perspectives, faculty and research engineers provide expertise, while the College supports projects with its facilities. Companies also participate because they can have topics important to them studied cost effectively, they get to see the future talent pool in a discipline, and they enjoy the interactions with students and faculty.
