Choir MIDI Files                                                 Anvil Studio

Anvil Studio is a free MIDI program for the PC.  It is available from

http://www.anvilstudio.com/

To use it for practicing the choir MIDI files follow the following instructions.  If any instruction is unclear, please let me know so I can improve it.

1)  Download the MIDI file to your computer by right-clicking the MIDI file name on the choir web site, then select Save Target As....  You can keep the name or change it.  Be sure you remember where you put the file.

2)  Open Anvil Studio.  It has an unusual structure.  The top of the page, shown below, is where you work.

Below that is a help file.  If you wish to return to a previous page, press the last menu item along the top of the monitor screen, Back.

3)  Make sure you are looking at the Mixer.  To do that, go to the View menu (4th menu from the left ) and select Mixer, the first entry.

4)  To play or stop the music, press the appropriate button located just above where all the parts are listed.

5)  You can change the volume of individual parts by moving the sliders directly below the word Vol.  The overall volume control is called  Internal Synth Vol and is just below the parts listing.

6) You can change the pan using the sliders to the right of volume.  Panning provides the stereo sound.

7)  To change the instrument used to play a part, click on the current instrument name.

8)  To slow down the piece, change the tempo number in the little box just above the Pan section.   Be sure to remember where you started so you can restore the piece to the original  tempo.
