- DARPA-
New Aged Programs
- Self-Regenerative
Systems (SRS)
Program
Manager: Dr. Todd Hughes
- The goal of the
SRS program is to develop technology for building
military computing systems that provide critical functionality at all
times, in spite of damage caused by unintentional errors or attacks.
All current systems suffer eventual failure due to the accumulated
effects of errors or attacks. The SRS program aims to develop
technologies enabling military systems to learn, regenerate themselves,
and automatically improve their ability to deliver critical services.
If successful, self-regenerative systems will show a positive trend in
reliability, actually exceeding initial operating capability and
approaching a theoretical optimal performance level over long time
intervals.
The Past:
The older technology that would be replaced
after this new aged technology is formed would be our present day
computers. Today our computers have the ability to hold mass amount of
data for as long as the owner wishes. However, if for some
unfortunate event your computer is attacked with a virus the
owner would lose there information permenately. This new technology
would prevent you from loosing that information. a computer that is
immortal to attacks and viruses.
In Society:
If this project were succesful our society would be
able to have all of thier information on hand at all time. There would
be no lost or missing information in the future due to computer
malfunctions.
