RESNet Info
What is it:
The University of Hartford has installed fiber optic cabling,
wiring, and telecommunications equipment to all of the student
residences on the main campus. All students have their own
high speed Ethernet connection to the Campus Network and the
Internet via 10 base T (twisted pair) jacks in their rooms.
Over 130 miles of fiber-optic cable and high capacity wiring
are used to provide one data connection per student in each
bedroom. The completed project provides 100 megabit per second
(Mbs) twisted-pair Ethernet for each PC or Macintosh
connected.
What you
need to access our Network:
Our network is designed to work with both IBM and Macintosh
compatible computers. While the University of Hartford makes
no brand preference for students when purchasing a new
computer, we do have some guidelines for performance to ensure
suitable compatibility with our Ethernet network in the
Residences. Please take a look at the minimum system
configuration we recommend.
ANTI-VIRUS and
WINDOWS/SOFTWARE updates REQUIRED to be on our network:
Visit
this website
which details maintenance requirements to keep
your computer updated and safeguarded.
