Upcoming Study Abroad Events

 

 

Did you know you can spend a winter, summer, semester or year off-campus?  There are opportunities to study, intern, do research and volunteer in over 40 countries, including in Washington, D.C.!  Students keep earn UHA credit, keep their financial aid and fulfill graduation requirements on all approved semester-long programs.  There are many events happening on campus this spring where you can learn more about study abroad.  Join us!
 
 
Study Abroad 101 Info Sessions:

These info sessions are the *first step* in planning your off-campus experience. They cover all the basics in order to get the process started. Topics include:

• choosing a program
• determining eligibility
• when to go abroad
• academic policies
• application process
• costs
• financial aid
• scholarships
• course selection
• finding a program to fit your budget!

 
Students only need to attend one session. 101s are mandatory for all students who are planning to study abroad. Spring semester dates are as follows:
 
February 4, 11, 18*
March 4, 11
April 1, 15*, 29

 
*These dates have a special focus on affordable programming and how to make study abroad work with every budget!  We’ll also discuss creative ways to raise and save money for study abroad.
 
All sessions are held on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:15 in Auerbach 427.

Study Abroad On the Go
Tuesday, January 28th
11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. (Auberach 1st Floor Lobby)
Come learn about all the opportunities available to you!  Choose from dozens of countries around the world.  Earn UHA credit, fulfill degree requirements and keep your financial aid.  There are special programs for Barney students to study business or carry out an internship abroad!  Stop by to talk with a Study Abroad Advisor.  (We’ll be inside the main entrance of Auerbach, 1st floor lobby).
 
Global Ambassadors Club
Thursdays, Jan. 30, Feb. 20, March 13, April 3, May 1
1:00– 2:00 p.m. (GSU 339)
The Global Ambassadors Club brings together international and U.S. students from all backgrounds. Meetings, games and activities are held throughout the semester. Make new friends while learning about the world!
 
First Year London Experience Summer Info Session
Tuesday, Feb. 4, 12.30-1.30 p.m. (GSU 327)
Wednesday, Feb. 5, 4.30-5.00 p.m. (GSU 327)
Finish your freshman year in London! Spend one week exploring this fascinating city with a group of fellow freshman. Earn one credit and go beyond being tourists as you make Regent’s University your home away from home.

Prague Summer Study Abroad Info Session
Thursday Feb 13, 12.30-1.30pm (GSU 218)
How has the evolution of power, culture, values and human rights in Central Europe unfolded since 1945 and World War II? Meet politicians, journalists, artists, thinkers and civic leaders, as well as Czech and Polish students.

Conversation Buddy Meet-up
Tuesday, Feb 18, 12.30-1.30 p.m. (H242)
The Conversation Buddy Program (CBP) connects international students from any language background with native English speakers to practice and improve their English language skills. We are looking for native English-speaking volunteers; all you need to have is a desire to help a fellow student practice English. Come learn what it’s REALLY like to study abroad from UHA students who have already done it!  Join us for lunch and roundtable discussion and get all your questions answered by study abroad alumni.  FREE lunch will be provided.
 
Get Career-Ready w/Study Abroad: A Program Exploration

Come learn about opportunities to carry out internships, research and community service off-campus! Choose from dozens of countries around the world. Focus on your future career and learn about valuable hands-on experience!  Earn UHA credit, fulfill degree requirements and keep your financial aid.

International Week!

Come participate in the many events of international week going on around campus. International Festival
Saturday March 1, 5.00-9.00 p.m. (GSU Cafeteria)
Join us for the Center's biggest event of the year! Celebrate an evening of cultural diversity with international performances and delicious food from around the world. Only $5.00 for students and $12 for non-students. Free entry for students with 4 stamps in the “International Passport!”
 
Spanish & French Clubs
Come take a break, practice your Spanish or French conversation and make new friends!  You don’t have to be fluent to join in the fun.  Ongoing meetings throughout the semester.
