Computers may have impacted the working world the most. The effects of computers in the working world may be endless, below are just a few ways in which computers have influenced work today.

Negative Effects

    • Computers have caused a decrease in the amount of energy that a worker has to put in making them lazier and dependent on the technology. For example, spell check can make workers become complacent about correct spelling grammar and punctution, reducing their own knowledge about this over time.
  • Distractions
    • The different programs available on the computers may cause workers to not give their full atention to their work;
    • It may also lead to procrastination
  • Socialization
    • Workers socialize less among each other because they can communicate with friends at home over the internet

Positive Effects

  • Makes work easier
    • Editing documents are less complicated, unlike in the age of the typewriters and caligraphy;
    • It enables them to complete work at a faster rate
  • Portable
    • The convenience of portable computers allow workers to do work anywhere they go
  • Collaboration
    • It allows various mediums of collaboration such as online meetings, allowing other to edit work that someone else has done on another computer.
