Blackboard 7 Student FAQs

Username and Enrollment Procedures

All students are enrolled automatically into official university Blackboard courses using class rosters.  In order to implement this:

All Blackboard users will be required to use their University of Hartford e-mail username to access Blackboard (e.g., jdoe if your e-mail is jdoe@hartford.edu ).   If users don’t have email, they will have to apply for it before accessing Blackboard.

Getting Help with Blackboard 7

Q:  What is my username and password?

A:  All Blackboard users will be required to use a University of Hartford e-mail username to access Blackboard (e.g., jdoe if your e-mail is jdoe@hartford.edu ).  Your initial password is the last four digits of your university ID.   For Fall 2007, the password for all users has been reset to the last four digits of the university ID.  You are strongly urged to change this after logging on for the first time.

Q:  What if I don’t have a university e-mail account, how can I obtain one?

A:  All individuals affiliated with the university, including students in summer or winterterm courses, are eligible to obtain a university e-mail account and may apply for one through the Computer Support Center in CC113.  A current course schedule, upcoming course schedule, and university ID is required.  Your Blackboard user account will be ready approximately two days after your email account has been created.

Q:  Are there any handouts to help me get started with Blackboard?

Student Blackboard handouts will be updated and include anything new and/or improved in Blackboard 7, as well as general tips.  Handouts may be found at http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/fcld/handoutsstudent.htm or by clicking on the Help button once you are logged into Blackboard.

Q:  How will I access my Blackboard 7 courses?

A:  After logging into Blackboard http://blackboard.hartford.edu, you should see your courses listed.  If you don’t have a course listed, it may be that your instructor isn’t using Blackboard, is not listed as the course instructor in Banner (i.e. the course is listed as “Staff”), or has not made the course available to students yet.  Note:  If you have just added a course, you should wait approximately 24 hours before you can access the course in Blackboard.

Q:  What should I do if there’s a problem?

A:  Ask your instructor for help.  If he or she is not able to answer your question, contact ITS at (860) 768-5999 or at its@hartford.edu.
