Tabled. Originally proposed as a 300 course, the Committee felt is would better be offered at the 200 level because of its minimal prerequisites. The Committee has a problem with the teaching format: distance teaching via a retired UH faculty member using a video link from Florida. This falls under the rubric of "distance learning" for which the University appears not to have a well-known policy approved by the Faculty Senate

Tabled. Although this program appears to be academically and financially viable, the Committee was disturbed by the fact that it is run predominantly by adjuncts and the one untenured faculty member will be housed off-campus. This looks very much like something to which we attach our name only.

Each of the above engineering programs has revised their first year offerings (approved by the Senate last month) and these proposals will officially make the new courses part of the required curriculum. They have also formalized their first year Dialog program by making it a 1-credit course. ME, IE, BioE, and CE have decided a previous change from separate 3-credit courses in Statics and Dynamics to a single 4-credit course in Vector Mechanics has not provided sufficient preparation for upper level courses. Therefore, these majors will replace the current Vector Mechanics requirement with the older requirement of two 3-credit courses in Statics and Dynamics.

CE 300

The course had previously been 2-credits. Material on bonding will be added, plus, as a 3-credit course, it is more likely to be taken by upper-level engineering students as a professional elective.

There is a shortage of trained staff for Montessori schools. Current teachers have requested a program leading to the master's degree. The person teaching these new courses is a nationally known master Montessori trainer who has come to the area to do training at the Learning Corridor. She and the ENHP faculty designed the proposed courses to be consistent with other ENHP graduate programs. This will be the only program in the state to prepare these professionals.

PT 600, PT 601

Neurological Exam Interven 1

CCC

As currently constituted, both of these courses are 2-credits. As PT moves toward doctoral level work, the need for more hours in the theoretical material is needed. The proposal is to increase the theoretical course PT 600 to 3-credits and reduce the lab component, PT 601, to a 1-credit three hour lab.
