Congratulations on your decision to be a part of the U of H community. The University of Hartford is a young, vibrant, learning-centered institution providing a unique choice of academic programs through a collection of distinctive colleges that share a core foundation of liberal arts and are dedicated to collaboration. The mission of the University of Hartford is to prepare its students intellectually, socially, and culturally for the exciting challenges of global citizenship. The university is an independent comprehensive institution committed to providing an excellent faculty and staff and to remaining in the forefront of program development and innovative uses of educational technologies.

The University seeks to attract students with strong academic promise from local, national, and international backgrounds. It recognizes individual needs and supports students in reaching their fullest potential through a lifelong commitment to learning, critical thinking, and effective communication.

To prepare yourself for your travel to the US in general and the U of H in specific, you will find in the following pages tips and pointers about what things to carry, visa documents, airlines information, local transportation facilities and other related matters.

In addition to making plans for your travel, it might help to decide on the kind of accommodation you would prefer during your stay here and also make some preliminary arrangements. You will find information about various forms of housing available and valuable advice on how to make a decision based on your needs.

To give you a brief idea of the living expenses and an estimate of the cost of tuition (especially for self-financed students) is our section on money matters. We have also included information about funding sources at the University.

To gear you up for the initial socio-cultural change, the university organizes numerous international student orientation  workshops. You will find this information useful in the first few days or weeks of your stay here. Good luck!
