Many of the software packages on this Web Page come in "zipped" form as a file named SPICE.ZIP, PHASORS.ZIP, MPP.ZIP, etc. These .ZIP files in most cases contain several other files, all compressed (ZIPPED) into the single .ZIP file.
Once you download a ZIPPED file to your PC, IN GENERAL it must be installed
by being "unzipped",
using PKUNZIP.EXE. Let us assume that you want to install PSPICE
in a subdirectory on your PC. Also, let us
assume you have already downloaded two files from this Web Site:
PKUNZIP.EXE, and SPICE.ZIP.
You can install the bare bones PSPICE version 6.1 as follows:
A. CREATING A SUBDIRECTORY
FOR THE PSPICE FILES:
1. From within WINDOWS, click the START button (at
bottom left of desktop screen).
2. Choose RUN, and where it says Open:,
enter COMMAND
and then click OK
This should land you in a DOS
window,
where the "DOS prompt" showing at top left is C:\WINDOWS\Desktop>
3. Type CD\ and hit ENTER. This will bring you to the C drive root directory, and the prompt will be C:\>
4. Type MD PSPICE and hit ENTER. (This will create a new subdirectory on your C drive, under the root directory).
5. Type CD PSPICE
and hit ENTER. This will put you in the PSPICE subdirectory on your
C drive, and
the
prompt will be C:\PSPICE>
6. Type EXIT
and hit ENTER. This will put you back in Windows.
B. PUTTING PKUNZIP.EXE &
SPICE.ZIP IN THIS SUBDIRECTORY
1. Find where these two files are on your PC, using
Windows Explorer or other file utility. HINT: when you
downloaded them, you told
Windows where to file them.
2. Move these two files into the C:\PSPICE> subdirectory.
