Expected Outcomes

Upon completion of this program:

  • The student will have the background necessary to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, the first step toward registration as a professional engineer. The department encourages students to take the FE examination.
  • The candidate will be well grounded in the fundamental concepts of math, physics, chemistry, computer science, and engineering science, and will be:
    • able to analyze and design electrical, electronic, and electromagnetic circuits and systems;
    • able to analyze, design, and evaluate performance of microprocessors and digital systems;
    • able to analyze, evaluate, and design real-time applications;
    • able to analyze and use computer programs intended for the design of electrical engineering applications;
    • able to analyze and evaluate performance of discrete and stochastic systems, including digital signal processing and;
    • able to work as a member of a team that understands the ethical requirements of the profession and the impact of the ECE technology on society.
