Course Requirements and Grading

Course Requirements
Each student will be required to:

1. Attend class and participate in daily collaborative and written activities.
2. Read and reflect on selected articles from selected professional publications. Prepare a one-page review on an article involving the use of technology in the mathematics classroom.
3. Develop expertise in the use of specific math software and prepare a written evaluation and recommendation on how you could use an additional program to increase student learning in mathematics.
4. Research math resources on the WWW; create a web ‘hot list’ of at least six appropriate standards-based sites for your grade level. Share one of these resources during a class presentation.
5. Develop a plan to convince members of your Board of Education to allocate funding for increased integration of technology in the mathematics curriculum. Share an overview of your plan in class.

Pedagogical Techniques
The course will be conducted using presentations, demonstrations, small and large group discussions and hands-on learning opportunities in the Educational Computing Lab.
