Fall Updates, Concerts, and more...
Well everyone, things are finally up and running. It is about 3 weeks into the semester already and things are busy already.
The first big news is the official start of the Suzuki Guitar Program at UConn’s Community School of the arts. This fall also included the start of the group class for Guitar as well. If you are interested in finding out more on the program please feel free to email me at nick@nickcutroneo.com. Also the CSA Guitar Ensemble will start September 23rd, at 7:15pm (Wednesday night).
October seems to be shaping up to have quite a few interesting performances. As part of Hartt’s Performance 20/20 program, I’m premiering a new work for Trumpet, Marimba and Guitar by Thomas Schuttenhelm. Along with that performance, I’ll be doing several other chamber and solo performances throughout the fall, including participating in the Guitar Orchestra for the Concierto de Los Angeles. This concerto is for Solo Guitar and Guitar Orchestra, and is featuring William Kanengiser from the LA Quitar Quartet. This will prove to be a very exciting concert, and loads of fun! Also, I’ve booked my final graduate recital at Hartt, which will be on February 11th, 2010. Performance 20/20 also streams all the concerts at Hartt, so I’ll be posting the links for live streaming as well as hopefully streaming some of my own concerts. We’ll see how that goes.
The long awaited and talked about recital CD will be recorded towards the end of December. The final track listing will be:
Phillip Houghton - God of the Northern Forest and Kinkachoo, I Love You
Torroba - Suite Castellana
J.S. Bach - 2nd Lute Suite
Rodrigo - Sonata Giocosa
Leo Brouwer - Canticum
Giuliani - Rossiniana No. 1, Op. 119
Finally, I’ve made some changes to the website, including some rearranging of sections. Probably the most notable is the MEDIA page, the TEACHING page and the new online BLOG I have. At the MEDIA page, you can find 2 playlists to listen to music (one solo and one chamber), a Video playlist and my photo galleries. The new TEACHING page has information on both my teaching at UConn and private lessons, as well as the Suzuki program and the CSA Guitar Ensemble. However, I’ve added a new section where I’ll post PDFs and other documents for students of mine as well as the general public. Finally, I’ve added a classical guitar BLOG that will deal with a variety of different issues. This will be an experiment, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes.
