Scholarships
There are three scholarships offered exclusively to University of Hartford students majoring in Communication: The Ellen Abrams Memorial Scholarship, the Emile Gauvreau Scholarship, and The Hartford Courant John J. Massaro Award for Excellence in Newspaper Journalism. If you meet the criteria for any of these scholarships, you may be chosen by the School of Communication to receive one.

The Ellen Abrams Memorial Scholarship
This $1,500 scholarship is awarded annually to one deserving junior or senior Communication major chosen from among the eligible students. To be eligible for the Abrams Scholarship, you must:
Be a Communication major
Demonstrate financial need
Be entering your junior or senior year the following fall semester (The recipient is chosen in the spring.)

The Emile Gauvreau Scholarship
The amount of this award varies but is presented annually to one or more deserving Communication majors, typically juniors or seniors, selected from the pool of eligible students. To qualify you must:
Be a Communication major
Be from Connecticut

The Hartford Courant John J. Massaro Award for Excellence in Newspaper Journalism
This $500 award is given annually to one deserving senior Communication major chosen from among the eligible students. To be eligible for the Massaro Award, you must:
Be a Communication major
Demonstrate excellence in newspaper journalism
