Good Life

Write two or three pages with the title "Notes on the Good Life."

How do you aspire to live? What do you intend to make of your life? What do you hope to achieve in love, in community life, in your profession, in politics. What kind of material prosperity do you aspire to? Then, perhaps most important, where do you find yourself, and where do you wish to go, on the matter of religion? How—if at all—do you imagine God?

Do you have a theory of human nature? How does that theory connect with your aspirations about how to live?

It should be clear that in writing about "the good life," you don’t need to describe what you think the majority of Americans mean by this phrase. We’re not looking for a piece of freelance sociology or mass psychoanalysis. The short essay is about you.
