Commonplace

1. Go to blackboard.hartford.edu (note that there is no "www")
2. Login if you already have an account. Otherwise create an account. (Make sure you put in an email address you plan check regularly).
3. Some of you will find that I have already signed you up for the course. If not, hit the "Courses" tab (it’s near the top left).
4. In the course search box, type "Pol 340."
5. Select the course.
6. Go to "Communications."
7. Send me an email telling me that you have successfully registered for the course.
8. Once everyone is registered, I will finish setting up your commonplace book group.

Syllabus: A copy of the syllabus as a word document and a link to the web syllabus.

Assignments: This is where online reading will be placed.

Communication: Allows you to send email to me and other members of the class. I will also be experimenting with using the virtual classroom for online office hours.

Groups: This is where your Commonplace Book will be located.

Making the Commonplace Book

1. Go to Groups
2. Select your name.
3. Select Group Discussion Board.
4. Select Commonplace Book.
5. Every time that you want to introduce a new concept, add a new thread.
6. Every time you want to add another entry on an existing concept, reply to the first entry in the thread.
