Get on Blackboard
- Go to blackboard.hartford.edu (note that there is no
"www")
- Login if you already have an account. Otherwise create an
account. (Make sure you put in an email address you plan check regularly).
- Some of you will find that I have already signed you up for
the course. If not, hit the "Courses" tab (it’s near the top
left).
- In the course search box, type "Pol 340."
- Select the course.
- Go to "Communications."
- Send me an email telling me that you have successfully
registered for the course.
- Once everyone is registered, I will finish setting up your
commonplace book group.
What you will find on Blackboard
Syllabus: A copy of the syllabus as
a word document and a link to the web syllabus.
Assignments: This is where online
reading will be placed.
Communication: Allows you to send
email to me and other members of the class. I will also be experimenting with
using the virtual classroom for online office hours.
Groups: This is where your
Commonplace Book will be located.
Making the Commonplace Book
- Go to Groups
- Select your name.
- Select Group Discussion Board.
- Select Commonplace Book.
- Every time that you want to introduce a new concept, add
a new thread.
- Every time you want to add another entry on an existing
concept, reply to the first entry in the thread.
