CAPS Mission And Population Served
At CAPS we believe that a student's success in college is directly related to her/his general development as a human being. Toward this end, CAPS staff help students reach their fullest potential, improve their quality of life and prepare them to successfully meet the challenges of college .
CAPS serves both the undergraduate and graduate student population at the University of Hartford . Students present with a wide range of clinical issues. Common concerns include depression, anxiety, sexual and gender identity issues, substance abuse, eating disorders, relational and parental conflicts.
Training Philosophy
CAPS offers a structured and comprehensive training experience. Trainees will be exposed to a variety of theoretical orientations with an emphasis in short-term focused clinical interventions.
Training Opportunities
Typically, the training experience at CAPS involves a 16-20 hour a week placement with a caseload of 8-12 clients. Trainees participate in weekly individual supervision as well as group supervision, case conferences and didactic presentations.
