The Loan Control Office located in the Bursar's
Office conducts the Entrance/Exit interviews for Perkins Loan borrowers.
Entrance Interview: First time Federal
Perkins Loan borrowers at the University of Hartford must complete an entrance interview, including endorsement of
promissory note, prior to disbursement of their loan funds. At the entrance interview, you will fill out a
promissory note for the loan and have a counseling session briefing you on your Rights and Responsibilities as a
borrower. Please bring your license and a list of three personal references of persons not living at your permanent
home address. You will need to provide each references address information. Listed below are some of your rights
and responsibilities and the information you will be provided:
- Information sheet on your loan obligation and
your rights and responsibilities as a borrower
- A repayment schedule containing information about
interest rates, fees, the balance you owe, and repayment options
- A grace period and an explanation of what this
term means
- Deferments for certain defined periods if you
qualify
- Request a forbearance
- Prepay your loan in whole or in part at any time
without an early repayment penalty
- Your promissory note when your loan is made, and
proof of cancellation when your loan is paid in full
Exit Interview: Whenever a student loan
borrower graduates, withdraws, leaves, or drops below half-time status at the University, the student must complete
an exit interview according to federal regulations. Borrowers receive important information about their repayment
obligations and update information about themselves given during a previous entrance interview. Please bring your
license and a list of three personal references of persons not living at your permanent home address. You will need
to provide each references address information.
