Amy Salo

Originally from Northern Ontario Canada, Ms. Salo is currently completing her Masters Degree in Performance and Literature at the Eastman school of Music in Rochester, New York.  She graduated with her Bachelor of Music degree summa cum laude, from the Hartt School of Music, where she was given the undergraduate award of excellence for winds, brass and percussion.  Ms. Salo has performed as a substitute with the Richmond Symphony (VA) and The Rochester Oratorio Society in the United States; The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, the North Bay Symphony Orchestra, and the Sault Ste. Marie Symphony Orchestras in Canada.  In December of 2001 Ms. Salo performed at the United Nations, with a subsequent recording at Edison Studios, NYC.  Ms. Salo recently performed the American premiere of John Zorn’s Rituals at Cooper Union, NYC.  In the past she has performed with artists such as: Jerry Goldsmith, Quincy Jones, Elmer Bernstein, Dianne Reeves, Patrick Williams, Herbie Hancock, Billy Childs, Christian McBride, Regina Carter and Terrence Blanchard.  Ms. Salo has participated in The Henry Mancini Institute in California, and the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado.  In 1997 and 1998 Ms. Salo was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces - Band of the Ceremonial Guard.  She has performed solo recitals in Rochester, NY; Hartford, CT; and Sudbury, ON.  Her principal teachers have included Dr. John Marcellus, Mr. Ralph Sauer, Dr. Ronald Borror, Mr. Douglas Burden, Dr. Per Brevig, and Dr. Charlotte Leonard.
