A Message from Ron...

Finally, a Fall “Hello” from Hartt.  Our semester is off to an exciting start with the addition of three nascent trombonist musicians to replace our three departed colleagues.  At last report Jakob is teaching grades 4-6 band and instrumental lessons in Wethersfield, CT.  Stacy is in Connetquot, New York, teaching elementary band and general music and Jeff is taking time off from school and working full time at an Apple store.  We wish them the best of good fortune in their careers and future endeavors!

Newly arrived to join our ranks are Sabrina Green, a Music Management major from Greenwich, New York.  She attended Schuylerville High School and enjoys performing and art.  David Groener is majoring in Music Production and Technology and calls Westport, Connecticut, home.  He aspires to a career as a successful producer/recording engineer and is a former student of Hartt grad and Ron student, Rob Volo.  Lastly (alphabetically speaking) Jeff Smith is from Bethel, Connecticut.  Jeff is double majoring in Trombone Performance and Music Education and would like to perform in a symphony orchestra, teach high school band and teach at a university.  He enjoys listening to music and playing Frisbee and poker.  Oh, yeah . . . he thinks zombies are real.  Also, though not new, Kevin has returned for graduate study.

The orchestra section (Ron, Kevin, Peter) is having a busy semester.  Last Friday’s concert featured the Rachmaninov 3rd Symphony.  They are preparing Symphonie Fantastique for the next program and looking ahead to the Bartok Concerto for Orchestra for the term’s final performance.  AND, the Hartt Trombone Ensemble will present its Fall Concert on Monday, November 12 at 7:30.  Please plan to attend.
