Hartt Habitué
Aileen Wong

Aileen Wong was born in Hong Kong and lived there until she came to the United States in 1999. She started playing piano at the age of 7 and subsequently attended Belilios Public School in Hong Kong , where she played bassoon for three years. After that, she realized that she was very interested in brass instruments, and so switched to playing euphonium.  Her teacher was Michael Lai. With the Belilios Public School Symphonic Band, she has toured Taiwan, Shenzhen and Australia. She was active in the Hong Kong Music Festival held every year and won several prizes, including the first prize in the euphonium solo competition. After coming to Connecticut, she studied trombone with Scott Bean at the Hartt Community Division for a few months. She was then accepted by the Hartt School and is currently studying trombone with Dr. Ronald Borror. She is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, Instrumental Emphasis. After graduating from Hartt, she aspires to teach in elementary or middle school. She also hopes to pursue a master’s degree in performance.
