Welcome to the College of Arts and
Sciences. We are a faculty of 115 dedicated teachers and scholars,
and an undergraduate student body of more than 1300 full-time
undergraduates. We offer 23 majors and the opportunity to
pursue a general education that prepares our students for
careers, citizenship, and life. Our classes are small and
our faculty will learn your name, engage your intellect, and
expect the best from you.
In addition to providing a great education in
your chosen specialty, we aspire to help you to strengthen
your powers of speech, writing, and analysis, to learn to
frame and solve problems, and to be a contributor to our society.
The novelist John Updike once wrote, “We
are all chords that others must strike.” Have a close
