About the Department

Students who major in film are people who use their eyes, ears, and intellect to examine both media images and the world around them. Film majors care deeply about the cinema and are eager to explore new and different types of films. Our majors are immersed in viewing, discussing, writing about, and making films. The cinema faculty shares the fascination of our students with the world of film. From mainstream to experimental, from Hollywood to Hong Kong to Senegal, and from early cinema to the latest digitally enhanced block-busters, the cinema faculty will open new horizons in film study and filmmaking. Graduates of the cinema program are uniquely equipped to thrive in the media-driven modern world.
