Objectives and Outcomes
Educational Objectives The architecture undergraduate B.S. degree objectives are to
provide the laboratory and studio experiences that are part of pre-architecture programs
prepare graduates for continued education in architecture or entry into architecture or the building industries;
prepare graduates to apply problemsolving, communication, and reasoning skills, and to have an understanding of economic issues associated with the application of technology in contemporary society; and
provide a broad-based education that extends beyond the bounds of technical competence.
Expective Outcomes Upon completion of the program, graduates will have
an appropriate mastery of the techniques, skills, and modern tools of architecture;an ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to emerging application of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology as it applies to the built environment;
an ability to analyze and interpret examples of process in the design of the built environment;
an ability to apply creativity in the comprehensive design of buildings, including systems, structures, and form;
an ability to function effectively on teams;
an ability to identify, analyze, and create solutions to building programs;
an ability to communicate effectively;
an ability to understand professional, ethical, and social responsibilities;
a respect for diversity and a knowledge of contemporary professional, societal, and global issues; and
a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
