The Criminal Justice Program at Hartford has a lot to offer. The broad range of classes and the research conducted by the professors helped me grow throughout college and later in my profession. My participation in research with my professors proved invaluable to me in my work as an investigator. The smaller classes gave me a feeling that I was an individual and not a number. The knowledge that I gained in the classroom I still apply today.

Since I began working in Manhattan as a probation officer, I truly realized how much I use what you guys taught in class. The relevance of my studies at the University of Hartford has been borne out in my daily activities on the streets and allows me to more fully understand the problems faced by my clients.

Christine Deitz, BA, 2001 New York State Probation Department

After graduation I went to Boston University Social Work School where I found myself very well prepared. The Sociology curriculum was an excellent foundation for my social work study. . I believe the Sociology major is an excellent choice for anyone interested in careers where it is important to understand people in their environment. I feel very grateful to the University and the Sociology faculty for preparing me so well for grad school.

Guy Croteau, Social Worker, Class of 2000

My sociology professors brought to the table different ways of thinking and learning. All of the professors challenged us and they brought the abstract material down to a personal level. I chose to go to UCONN School of Social Work because I wanted to take my sociological knowledge and help many who are struggling. Often times I feel that I have the upper hand in a lot of the things that I have to do because everything that I was taught can be tied to how individuals and families operate.
