The faculty in the Sociology Department
and Criminal Justice Program is a group of energetic teacher/scholars. The
faculty actively pursue research in their areas of expertise and thereby bring
a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience to the classroom.
Some current research projects
by the faculty include:
- an ethnographic study of the
social networks of marginalized Puerto Rican men
- research on drug crime prevention
in Hartford, Connecticut
- an environmental justice project
that examines whether municipal waste sites are placed in minority neighborhoods
- a program evaluation of the
Connecticut Fatherhood Initiative
- research on the impact of coercive
treatment of drug offenders
- a study of the social movement
of shareholder activists and their impact on corporate America
- an evaluation of school based
delinquency programs in the Hartford public schools
