Moulin Rouge is a love story set in
France during the Bohemian Revolution in the year 1900. It features a
star cast including Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGreggor. I love this movie
because it shows four true statements: love, beauty, truth, and
freedom. It also tells people that the "greatest thing you'll ever
learn is just to love and be loved in return" (Moulin Rouge).
The main story is that a man named Christian just moved to Paris to
celebrate the Bohemian Revolution. He wants to learn the true ideals of
truth, beauty, freedom, and love. He meets some Bohemian
revolutionaries that work for The Moulin Rouge as writers and dancers
for the club. They ask him to write a story or play for them to present
to the Duke to show him why they want the Moulin Rouge turned into a
dance hall rather than a night club for men. Christian agrees, but he
has to meet the head dancer named Satine. Both of them see each other
for the first time and are immediately intrigued by each other's
presence. They fall madly and deeply in love. The only problem is that
Satine works for the Moulin Rouge and was told never to fall in love
because of the fact that she works for men. Satine must also be the
love interest for the Duke because if he has Satine as his property,
then he will be more willing to pay the money to help the dancers and
owners turn the Moulin Rouge into a dance hall. As the Duke arrived,
Satine was there for him, and had to show that she was his, but she
secretly would meet with Christian as they loved each other. However,
Satine suffers from Tuberculosis, a serious disease where she coughs up
blood. Not only was Satine a dancer, but she was also the lead singer,
so it was not good when she would be singing and stop to cough, and
sometimes pass out. Later when she would awake, she would cough again,
and then cough up blood. In the ending, the Duke finally leaves
Christian and Satine to be together as the whole cast gets him to leave
the final show. However, their love was short lasting as right after
the show ending, Satine died from her Tuberculosis. Satine tells
Christian as she is dying to tell their story and to tell everyone
about the principles of the Bohemian's which once again would be truth,
beauty, freedom, and above all else, love.

The Moulin Rouge is actually a real dance club in France. Here are some

Moulin Rouge, upon being a great movie, had a great soundtrack. Here is
a link to my favorite song Bolero from the second soundtrack. There
aren't any pictures, just music.
