Femcide has been an on going problem since 1993 to the present. These harmfull acts towards
women have been a major problem in Juarez Mexico and along the U.S. / Mexican Border. The
main reason why this is happening is only based on gender. These women are killed, abducted,
and kidnapped because they happen to be females. They are ussualy between the ages of 12 to
22. Most of the women who fall victim to these crimes are the ones who work in maquiladoras.
Maquiladores are warehouses where foriegn companies send over the parts to a product and
these warehouses assemble the product and ship it back. These warehouses mostly hire women
because they can pay them less and are more flexible when it comes to working longer hours.
The reason it's so easy for one of these women to be assaulted is because clearly the employers
have not provided sufficient protection. Although they have created a transportation system so
they don't walk home alone at night they still lack in protection. There is so much more information
on this negleted issue but just being aware can make a difference. Sharing this information increases the opportunity that someone may be able to contribute by having their company fund
organizations that target social issues such as this.
