From Dr. Crespi:
My research interests have involved professional credentialing
and licensure, clinical supervision, family therapy, and psychopathology
in children and adolescents. At present I have had the good fortune
to have published three books and approximately 75 professional
articles. Using clinical supervision as an illustration of one
area of focus, my work strives to link theory and practice. As
someone who is especially concerned that practitioners continually
strive to link sound research with informed practice, my work
in clinical supervision, has included forming basic definitions
for the profession, as well as expanding traditional research
which has supported the notion that clinical supervision can enhance,
support, and expand professional skills. In addition to having
published this work nationally and internationally, I have presented
my work on a state, regional, and national level. In 1999, for
instance, I served as the Chair for a half-day presentation on
clinical supervision in Las Vegas for Trainer’s of School
Psychologists (TSP). Presented in consort with the annual meeting
of the National Association of School Psychologists, this forum
explored differing models of supervision and examined implications
for the field.
In addition to my work in school psychology, I also have maintained
a continuing research agenda involving counseling psychology,
specifically focusing on family theory, as well as clinical interventions
and models for treating highly disturbed children and adolescents.
Building on my early work on adolescents placed in psychiatric
hospitals, my present interests involve school-based interventions,
as well implications for clinicians in private practice.
Of some consequence, I strive to work on multiple levels. I presently
served on the Executive Board for the Connecticut Association
of School Psychologists, I serve on the Executive Board for Trainer's
of School Psychologists, and I serve on several state association
committees. In addition, I am on the editorial board of a number
of journals including School Psychology Review, Psychotherapy
In Independent Practice, The Journal of Child & Adolescent
Substance Abuse, and The Clinical Supervisor.
Finally, all this work notwithstanding, I have published approximately
450 popular articles involving sport psychology, and family leisure,
largely targeting the ski industry. This work has added a wonderful
balance to my career, and has involved continuing contributions
to several regional and national ski publications
