Students taking this FIG will gain an appreciation of the diverse relationship between mathematics, chemistry and biology.  Themes such as photosynthesis and interaction of light and matter can be considered from the perspective of more than one field.  Mathematical concepts and graphical representation of data are central to the understanding of the sciences.  

Since many students are enrolled in all three subjects in this FIG, they are particularly encouraged to form study groups to aid their performance.
