Distinguished Visiting Humanists

Distinguished Visiting Humanists come to the University of Hartford for a week in the summer when they conduct a daily workshop on a topic of their choice for University faculty and area high school teachers. Teachers from Buckley High School, Hartford Public High School, Weaver High School, the Watkinson School, Hall High School, South Windsor High School, and Avon High School have been part of these events. In some cases, University and High School cooperative projects have developed from the summer connection. The Distinguished Visiting Humanist returns in the fall semester to deliver a public lecture and to reconvene the summer workshop group for a final session.

Distinguished Visiting Humanists have included:

Peter Conn, University of Pennsylvania, English
Andrea Lunsford, Ohio State University, Rhetoric
Neil Browne, Bowling Green State University, Economics
Elisabeth Perry, Sarah Lawrence College, History and Women's Studies
Shirley Brice Heath, Stanford University, Linguistics and Anthropology
Kenneth Cmeil, Iowa State University, History
