Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  1. - 1 ½ pounds ¾ inch cubed stale bread
  2. - 4 cups scalded milk
  3. - ½ pound butter
  4. - ½ pint brandy
  5. - 8 eggs
  6. - 3 cups sugar
  7. - ¾ tablespoons nutmeg
  8. - 2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Cut up bread while milk and butter are heating in a pot.
3. Combine liquids, eggs, sugar and spice
4. Add bread last by submerging it using your hands so that it gets thoroughly soaked.
5. Transfer into a butter 9x13 inch pan, pouring gently so that the bread doesn’t break up too much.
6. Bake until an inserted skewer or knife comes out clean, about 40 minutes.
