LIBRARY AUTOMATION SYSTEM

SEARCH

This year, Mullins State University Libraries began a search for a new automation system. The search was begun due to the rapidly changing information needs of the Mullins State University community. The demand for a web-based system was overwhelming.

Mullins State University Libraries began the search by reviewing the many articles on the subject of library automation. The trends today in library automation seem to include networks, open systems, client/server architectures and user interface development, integration of non-traditional materials, and integration with commercial services.
