 THE UNIVERSITY

Mullins University, founded in 1948 is a comprehensive public university that
provides a complete program of education for a diverse student body. Mullins
offers an undergraduate liberal arts and science curriculum, with masters and
Ph.D. programs in music and library science.

Mullins University enrolls approximately 4,000 full-time undergraduate students,
1,000 part-time undergraduate students, 500 full-time graduate students, and
1,000 part-time graduate students. The undergraduate students are primarily
from the Northeastern United States. However, the students come from 47
states and 66 foreign countries. Most undergraduates live in on-campus
housing. A small percentage of undergraduates are non-traditional students who
are seeking to change or start new careers. These undergraduates reside off
campus. The graduate students live off campus.

Mullins University,s faculty members are experienced teachers and researchers.
More than 75 percent hold the terminal degree in their field. There are 308 full
time faculty members and over 300 part-time faculty. Classes are small at
Mullins University.

Arts and letters are important to the life of Mullins University. A world-renown
music program granting both undergraduate and graduate degrees has made
Mullins a magnet for the local community as well as for the music community.
Many celebrated musicians make Mullins a stop on their world tours. The Mullins
School of Library Science grants an American Library Association accredited
Master of Library Science degree and has earned a place in the world of
librarianship. Mullins has been the venue for many national library conferences.

Mullins University,s spacious 300-acre campus is a tree-lined quiet oasis located
in a city of 300,000. As one of only two universities in the city, Mullins has played
a key role in the educational life of the city. The city and its region are
economically strong today, with a diversified mix of businesses. Historically,
much of the economy was dependent on the fishing industry and on tourism.

Sports are important at Mullins. The university athletic program enjoys Division I
status, the highest level of intercollegiate competition. A number of the
programs, such as the baseball program and the basketball program, have
produced major-league professional athletes.
