The New York Yankees

The New Stadium

The new stadium was built to resemble the old stadium, built in 1923. But inside, it was renovated for a modern look and has a newer style. It's also much more upgraded and features better amenities, such as 68 luxury suites, as opposed to the 19 that were in the previous stadium. many aspects of the old stadium were brought over to the new stadium, for cosmetic value and for tradition. The frieze that was above the upper deck stands in the original ballpark was brought back in the new stadium. it is made of steel and zinc this time though as opposed to copper in the previous stadium to prevent rust. It was also brought back as a way to hold up the lighting system of the new stadium. The exterior was made of limestone, granite and concrete and replicated to look like the old exterior. The seating in the new stadium is also better than that in the old stadium. there may be less seats, 51,000 seats are in the new stadium and 56,000 in the old stadium, but there is more leg room and the seats are wider and more comfortable than those from the 1923 stadium. A change in the new stadium that has caused some controversy was the movement of Monument Park, the park behind the outfield where retired Yankee numbers have plaques and information on the players who wore those numbers. In the new stadium, Monument Park is directly under a sports bar and not as open as it was in the other stadium, a big draw for fans of the Park.
